Dr. N. Renugadevi is currently serving as the Registrar (i/c) of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Tiruchirappalli (IIITT), and is also working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli, and has qualified the GATE and TNSET examinations. Dr. Renugadevi has over 20 years of teaching experience. With a rich academic and professional career, she has served in various reputed institutions including NIT Warangal, Government Engineering College Bharatpur, Rajasthan (under TEQIP III), NIT Tiruchirappalli, SASTRA University, and others, gaining extensive teaching and administrative experience. She has actively contributed to sponsored research and consultancy projects in emerging areas of technology. She is currently serving as Co-Principal Investigator for the ongoing ANRF-PAIR project, in collaboration with IIT Madras, titled ‘Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing towards Clean Energy and Circular Economy’, funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, with a total outlay of ₹2.30 crores. She has also successfully completed many projects like ‘An Efficient Hardware Accelerator for AES Encryption’, ‘Blockchain-based Food Traceability in Agri Food Supply Chain to Support Farmers in Tamil Nadu’ etc. Dr. Renugadevi has contributed to online education through the NPTEL/SWAYAM MOOC course “Scripting Languages,” coordinated by NITTTR Chennai, conducted during July–December 2025 and rerun from January–June 2026. She has actively organized funded academic programmes, including two 6-month AICTE QIP-PG Certificate Programmes (18-credit courses) conducted during June December 2025 and February–July 2026, supported with a total funding of ₹40 lakhs. In addition, she conducted a DST-SERB sponsored high-end workshop (Kaaryashala) on “Machine Learning for Cyber Security” in 2023, supported by a grant of ₹5 lakhs. She has published 25 papers in international journals and conferences and 6 in national venues, along with 9 book chapters in her areas of research expertise. She has actively contributed to academic development by organizing 17 workshops and attending 35 training programmes, and has participated in 16 national and international conferences. She has successfully guided 27 undergraduate projects and 7 postgraduate projects, and is currently supervising two Ph.D. scholars in the areas of Internet of Things and AI in Cyber Security. Dr. Renugadevi has received several awards and recognitions for her academic excellence and contributions to teaching and research. She was honored with the Best Teacher Award and was selected as one of 55 officer trainees nationwide by the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun. She secured First Prize for the IoT-based project ‘Smart Municipality Water Management System’ at a workshop organized by ICARS, Delhi, and JNU, Delhi (June 2020), and was recognized as a Notable Participant in the IIT Bombay–ISRO–AICTE Mapathon 2020. She was also selected as one of 2,500 TEQIP III faculty members across India by the National Project Implementation Unit (NPIU), MHRD, in 2018. Additionally, she received the MHRD Fellowship from 2012 to 2017 and multiple cash awards and incentives for achieving 100% results in Anna University examinations. Her current research focuses on environmental assessment using geospatial approaches, including efficient mitigation of Urban Heat Island (UHI) effects using machine learning and deep learning with a focus on the Indian region; development of AI-driven techniques for Urban Pollution Island (UPI) mitigation; haze removal in remote sensing images using deep learning; and an integrated framework for coal mining that combines remote sensing, UAVs, and intelligent analytics to enhance safety, navigation, and efficiency. She is also developing a user-friendly platform for generating annotated crop-mapping datasets by fusing Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 data to support precision agriculture, crop monitoring, and yield prediction. She has served as a programme committee member for several conferences and as a reviewer for journals related to computer and information security. Her research interests include Information Security, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Digital Agriculture, and the Internet of Things.
