Dr. Puspanjali Mohapatra is a Senior Member of IEEE with over 20 years of teaching and academic experience. Since August 2009, she has been associated with IIIT Bhubaneswar. She currently serves as the Chairman of the PG and PhD Admission Committee, IIIT Bhubaneswar and Professor-in Charge of the M.Tech CSE program. Dr. Mohapatra has extensive experience in mentoring and research supervision. She has guided numerous undergraduate and postgraduate theses, projects, and has successfully supervised four Ph.D. scholars, with two more currently pursuing their doctoral research under her guidance. Her research interests include Data Mining, Soft Computing, Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Recommender Systems. As an active researcher, she has published over 60 papers in reputed international journals, conferences, and book chapters, and holds eleven granted patents. She also serves as a reviewer for several reputed journals, including Sustainability, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, the IETE Journal of Research, and various IEEE conferences. Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Mohapatra actively contributes to professional bodies. She is the faculty advisor of the GDSC Club at IIIT Bhubaneswar and has been associated with organizations such as IEEE, WIE, ACM, IAENG, and OITS. She served as Secretary of the IEEE Young Professionals Group, IEEE Bhubaneswar Section in 2024 and a member of the Women in Engineering (WIE) group and currently is serving as the vice chair of IEEE Computer Society Bhubaneswar Section (2024-2026). In recognition of her academic and research contributions, she received the Distinguished Woman Researcher in Data Mining Award from Venus International Women Awards, Chennai (2024), along with the Rising Women of India Award and the Leading Educationist of India Award from Delhi (2024).
