Dr. Yamini Sharma superannuated as Head of the Department, Dept. of Physics, Feroze Gandhi Post Graduate College, Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, and is renowned for her expertise in Condensed Matter Physics. Her academic specialization encompasses electronic properties, band structure calculations (such as FP-LAPW, KKR, and PAW methodologies), magnetism, and Compton spectroscopy.
Her academic journey began with a B.Sc. (Hons.) from IIT Kharagpur in 1983, followed by an M.Sc. from the same institute in 1985, and a Ph.D. from CSJM University, Kanpur, in 2002. Over the years, Dr. Sharma has held multiple visiting appointments, including Visiting Fellow positions under the UGC-DSA program at the Department of Physics, College of Science, Mohanlal Sukhadia University (from 2009-2012 and 2016-2019), Visiting Professor at Mewar University, Chittorgarh, and Visiting Scholar at the Center for Theoretical Studies (CTS) at IIT Kharagpur from 2003–2004.
Dr. Sharma’s professional contributions involve research initiatives funded by agencies such as DRDO, BRNS, and CST-UP, and has served as a reviewer for several scientific journals. She has supervised and awarded three Ph.D. dissertations and evaluated many M.Sc. and M.Tech. theses from institutes like IIRS-ISRO, Dehradun. She has collaborated on projects with the Compton Profile Laboratory at Mohanlal Sukhadia University and the Inorganic Materials and Nanocomposites Laboratory at IIT Kharagpur. In addition, she has led five research projects, organized three seminars/conferences, and served as Programme Officer of the National Service Scheme (NSS). She has also participated in two UGC-conducted refresher courses.
Dr. Sharma has attended over 38 international and national seminars, conferences, and meetings, and her research output includes 32 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 28 papers in conference proceedings, and 85 abstracts presented or published in various conferences.
